Mercury Playback - unable to disable

Does anyone know how to do this? My graphics card is busy rendering, but I want to keep working without loading the GPU. I disabled Mercury Transmit in the pref., but it didn't help.

Mercury transmit and Mercury renderer are 2 different things. The renderer is gone - in the reset menu (strat premiere pro sholding Shift). If I were you I'd be glad to see my GPU doing all the job.

Stop trying to edit and EDIT!

I remember a time when gaming video cards meant nothing and everything worked on any computer with a video editing card that handled all the work smoothly.

I do too. But Premiere Pro heating up your CPU to 85 degrees and doing the encoding or even worse - decoding - is a common case in version 25, so if you have a videocard and it works when you work, it's a blessing.
