Merging Video with a merged Audio clip

Hi, all of the files of the project I am working on have their timecode out of sync, which makes me have to sync them manually.

 

Due to the lav and boom mic (all separate) not being in sync too (recorded with two different recorders I assume) I resorted to merge the audio channels based on waveform.

 

Down in the timeline I can not merge the clips with the corresponding video (tried to synchronise them before too).

 

It also does not let me create an in point in the merged audio clip with 5 tracks.

Cannot create a Multicam Sequence either with a merged audio clip, and if I do it with all the audio tracks immediately I would have to create an in point on every single track.

 

I attached a screenshot of the merged clip in the source moninor.

How should I proceed? Appreciate any help you can give me!

Syncing separate audio can be a royal pain. There's a discussion on the BM forums about this also. And as several over there pointed out, distance is actually an issue.

 

Say the camera is 3 meters from the subject, with a mounted shotgun. And you had a lav on the subject to a separate recorder. Even if 'synced' by timecode, there will naturally be something between a quarter and a half frame difference between the two sounds due to the distance.

 

And someone pointed out that when you're at a baseball game, you see the bat hit the ball, you hear the 'crack' a second later, and don't think anything of it. But ... watch a video, and if the bat hitting that ball and the crack sound aren't together, it "feels wrong".

 

So we fix reality to match what we want it to be. 

 

To sync those manually, you need to change the timeline Time setting to Audio Units. Then unlink the audio you'll be moving. You can now move as short as 1 millisecond ... !

 

Adjust the audio.
