Question

missing functionality: use tab key to select marker color in Marker window

I recently upgraded from PPro 24 to 25 and I’m finding some of the small changes strange and frustrating. This one is very particular but in the past when adding markers, I would hit the “add marker” key, hit it again to open the Marker window, type in my text, and then use the “tab” key to cycle through the marker colors before using “spacebar” to select the color and enter to close the window.

I thought it was standard behavior on the mac for the “tab” key to jump through all clickable elements in a window, but in PPro 25 about half of the clickable elements in the Marker window are skipped over. I know you can set a shortcut key to change marker color, but that’s not what I need. This has been my workflow for years, is ingrained in my muscle memory, and in my opinion is more efficient and less fussy.

Small things like this do add up when working on lengthy projects. I’m wondering why this functionality changed and if it can be fixed (or if I’m missing something!)? Being forced to reach over to the mouse to select a marker color in the Marker window is pretty frustrating. Thanks for any guidance!

This does seem to be broken compared to how it worked in Premiere Pro 2024.

You can still get it to work (kind of):

    1. Press Tab until the Comment field is selected.
    2. Use the Left Arrow and Right Arrow keys to cycle through marker colors.

Note: This method only cycles through colors up to yellow, and it also changes the marker type. Since most of the functionality tied to different marker types isn't commonly used anymore, this shouldn't make much difference to your workflow.
