Question

"Missing" import window causing Premiere to lock up?

I've had this happen several times on Windows 10 and have subsquently lost a lot of time and work. Occassionally I'll try to open a new project or import a file into my current project, and the file explorer window just doesn't appear. The rest of the program is locked and "backgrounded" as if the window is there, but there is no window to be found. Shift + right click on the taskbar brings up nothing. Enter, escape, Alt+F4 - nothing. Trying to blind select a file by tapping arrow keys and hitting enter - nothing. The only thing I can do is kill the program through task manager and give up all of the work I completed since my last save.

This keeps happening and it's absolutely infuriating. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere several times. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled all of CC, and still this issue keeps happening. Does anybody have a solution or is it maybe time for me to move on to a more reliable application?

Sorry for your frustration with this. Maybe a work-around for this would to import what you need through the Media Browser panel.

Navigate to what you need the right click and import into project.

(Until a fix for the other problem is found.)
