Mono vs Dual Mono

Can someone explain to me the difference to an audio track being in mono vs dual mono?

If I keep my mono track untouched will the sound of the voice over reach all speakers evenly? I'm very new to audio mixing and would love some insight. I'm messing with a project (the sequence is in stereo) with this mono voice over file below:

Currently the sound of the voice over can be heard in both my headphones. So why would I want to make it dual audio? Just wondering what are the pros or cons to changing anything are. Thank you!

I keep everything really simple cause I don't do dolby stuff and only record sound slated with one boom mic usually (Tascam thing). Rarely use built in mic in camera ( cheap dslr and bmpcc ).

sometimes record using a zoombrowser H4N (voice overs or narration etc. ).

But I put everything into stereo tracks in the editor. Usually it is mono in both left and right channels. Sometimes (the H4N) is just slightly different re: left and right channel cause it really IS stereo recording with 2 mics if I use the built in mics.

I export using the 48khz setting, same as my sources.

That way, no matter who I give the export to I know they will hear stuff the way I want them to out of both speakers etc.

    simple.

There used to be mono to stereo conversion thing in timeline where you fill right or fill left.. I'll leave that to someone else to explain if you need it.

    good luck
