Motion Question: Can I directly control velocity parameter?

I have text and graphics moving in and out of my video.    I would like to standardize the speed at which things move.  In the Motion/position effect,  PPro lets me move the location of a position keyframe, which then implies a velocity.  But I would like to reverse this logic and enter the velocity directy, and then let this imply the position of the keyframe.   There doesn't seem to be any way to do this, but I thought I would just check with others.  Thanks.  Have a great day.
