.mp4 file not importing any video, just audio

I have searched and searched the internet for hours and nothing has helped.  I try to import a 10 hour .mp4 video and it imports the audio just fine.  I can hear the audio clearly when I play it back in my timeline, but there is no video attached with the audio.  The video plays fine in media player programs but I want to make highlights to the 10 hour video.  I tried to convert to .mov but there are not any free converters to use. Any help would be appreciated as I have exhausted my efforst.

I don't know if this is related, but since the 12.1 update, I am having problems importing some mp4 video files - in that the audio is not importing. In previous Adobe updates, this problem has happened each time going back years, and it was caused by CFA files not working with the update. This time around, the older CFA files are not in the roaming cache folder, they are gone. So renaming the mp4 and re-importing it doesn't help. Personally, I'm too annoyed to care this time and try to find a solution. But maybe rolling back the update might work for you. Uninstall/reinstall but don't update. I don't know if that will work, but if you're in a pinch I'd try that. That's a lame choice I know! Good luck.

Yes this worked perfectly! Installed CC2017 and it imported my video just as it should be! Thank you!
