mp4 importing issues, will import audio but not video

Question

I'm currently working on a video for youtube but constistently keep running into the same issue of an mp4 file only importing the audio without the video. However if I start a new project and move the exact same file over it does. I can then copy and aste it over perffectly fine but this means I have to create an entire new project everytime I need to move in another mp4 clip.

Anyone had a similar issue?

That sounds like the simple (and easy to miss!) Source targeting misshap.

At the far left of the control header block of your Timeline panel, there is probably a blue block for an audio track, but no blue block above on a video track.

Click a video track and you should be fine. That tells Premiere where you want the video ... or audio ... placed on the sequence tracks.
