MPEG-2 and AC3?

Hello,

I am new to Adobe Media Encoder. I come from Final Cut Studio background. I feel confused because when trying to encode video and audio for a DVD, I should go for the MPEG-2 for video, right? But this, automatically encodes the audio also in MPEG 1. Why? Apple's Compressor offered AC3 for the audio, why Media encoder doesn't? AC3 is bad? Thanks for your patience.

Choose the MPEG2-DVD format.  You'll get separate video and a PCM audio output.  (You'll have to transcode to .ac3 in another app if necessary.)
