MTS import in CC 2018 heaps slower than in 2017 version

I have been using PP for 3/4 years and the latest version (12.0.1) takes an age to import MTS files. I downloaded PP CC 2017 again and this version is fine. Big bug in the latest version it seems. It does eventually import the files, but even when played on the time line, it continually seems to be conforming the files. Importing QT files, ProRes, etc on 2018 is a breeze in comparison. Needs an update Adobe.

Yes - via media browser.

Same action in CC 2017 takes 10 secs for 4-8gb.

On CC 2018, same files take 10 minutes with lots of all spinning. It eventually works, something is obviously wrong.

I've noticed the same. 12.0.0 worked as expected. 12.0.1 is ungodly slow to do the same task.
