Multiband Compressor GUI gone after 2017 update

I updated and imported a project to 2017.

The instances of the multiband compressor (not the obselete one) are appearing without the edit button that lets you open the GUI.  So, I can change the parameters in the foldout controls below the plugin name, but without a GUI you can't see what you are doing.

If I instantiate a new Multiband compressor instance, it's fine.  But the old one that migrated over is busted.

I just spent over an hour on the phone with Adobe support so that they could tell me in the end that "Adobe doesn't recomment migrating during a project."

Not having the GUI for such mods of settings is rather nasty. Sorry about that!

It's been a "best practice" of editing in general to finish projects in the version of the software they were created in if possible. Which is not always ... possible. As one needs to meet deadlines, and adding extra potential gotchas in the middle or nearing the deadline for a project is rather painful.

For the CC versions, it's very easy to return a previous version to installed status, and if you were working this in either 2015.0/1/2, the "9.x" build series, or 2015.3/4, the "10.x" build series, you may wish to re-install and continue working in that version.

I'd suggest, when migrating a project to a newer version, that rather than simply open & allow conversion in the newer version ... create a new project in the newer version, and from the Media Browser panel, navigate to the project file of the older version and Import it. From personal experience, this seems to be less problematic.

So you might wish to try simply creating a new project, and importing a copy of the project file of the previous version, and see if that gets your compressor GUI back ...
