Question

Multiple Audio Tracks All Linked When Creating Multicam

I have just created a multicam clip using the settings as below:

Before this I set all audio channels to mono.

This then creates a multi cam clip like so:

So far, so good.

Then I right click the clip in the project panel and select New Sequence from Clip, which creates:

Now all the audio tracks are linked to the MC1 video track. Also, it has renamed each audio track A1, A2 etc. rather than using the actual track names so that I can easily identify which person is speaking and then edit their audio as required. Is this normal? I did right click the video track and Unlink, so now I can select each individual audio track.

This is expected behavior when creating a multi-camera Sequence. All of the audio clips are nested into a single sequence, and they're linked to the video to prevent the audio and video from losing sync.

Instead of unlinking the clips in the timeline, you can simply turn off the Linked Selection button (located below the timecode, next to the Snap button), or use the shortcut Alt/Option when selecting individual clips in the timeline.

As for the naming, it looks like you selected "Custom" when creating the multicam. If you set it to Video Clip Name +, it will display the names of the underlying files. You can still rename the multicam sequence directly in the Project panel afterwards.

Thanks Paul. I appreciate your reply and for the tip about turning off Linked Selection.

In terms of naming I did use Video Clip Name + but I was then expecting each audio track to then following that naming structure rather than calling it Timeline V2 [A3] etc. I was able to rename each audio track but I was hoping to see the track names as I find it easier to see which I am editing. I guess it's not a bit deal, but would be good to have it that way if possible.
