Multiple file paths for Productions assets

For some assets in my production, when I reveal in finder, it sends me to a folder--not the asset--and the asset isn’t actually in that folder.

So I open media file properties and the file path lists three different locations. 

If I search for the filename on my drive, there is only one asset, and it is in one of the locations listed--but not the other two. 

I thought this might be a duplicate file problem but for many of these assets there are no dupes. Any idea what’s going on?
