Music/ Audio file distortion

Music files that play fine on Premiere Pro 2015, Windows Media player etc. are distorted in Premiere Pro 2017. I have tried everything to correct/diagnose the problem but without success. If I download new copies of the music they will play, however it is a bit of a chore to re download all the music I have.

I have tried Re installing windows twice…. A clean install once, on a new hard drive also reinstalling Premiere pro 2017, on a clean copy of Windows 10 with no other programs. The result is the same!

Windows system and Premier Pro are installed on the C drive; the music is in a folder on the D drive.

If I drag music from the download folder on the C Drive and drop it directly into the project it will play as it should. I have tried dragging the files from music on D to Download on C and imported and they are still not playing as they should.

At this point I had begun to think the files on D were corrupted, BUT if that is the case why does this problem only occur in Premiere Pro 2017 and not Premiere Pro 2015, or WMP etc.

The same pieces of Music which cause problems when added to new projects, play fine in 2015 projects imported into 2017??????

I know there is no problem with the D Drive as all the Vid and photo files are there and there is no problem.

Also I have tried the same experiments on my Laptop with the same results!!

Update Not all files work if I re download them and import or Drag and Drop from any Drive or file so this is definitely a problem with Pr 2017
