Music collection every project

How can I create a library of music I’ve selected in Premiere that opens with every project—similar to the "Power Bin" in DaVinci Resolve? The Power Bin is really cool; you can see waveforms for every track or sound clip, and it loads automatically in every project. Not to mention that you can tag frequently used songs to find them quickly, add markers, and color-code clips. I’m wondering if there’s a way to do this in Adobe Premiere, or if maybe I’m just missing a feature. Thanks!

@wavforme the best way to do this in Premiere is to make a new project for your music library, and organize/tag whatever you’d like in there. Then when you’re editing in your regular project, just open that music project as well. Premiere supports multiple projects open at the same time, and so you can have two instances of the Project panel (one for your edit project, one for music) and work like that with no problem. Any time you cut a piece of music from the music project into your timeline, it will add the music to the editing project automatically.

Also – if you have Media Intelligence analysis turned on (Preferences > Media Intelligence & Transcription) then Premiere can analyze the music library for you and you can then use the Search panel to semantically search for types of music and sounds. It’s a nice extra way to search sometimes, instead of only relying on the name or tags.

Hi, just following up on Matt's answer above — keeping your selected music in its own dedicated Premiere project is a really practical approach, and the key point is that Premiere can have more than one project open at the same time, so clips you cut from the music project are copied into your editing project automatically.

One small addition: to open the music project alongside the one you're editing, use File > Open Project... — it opens in addition to your current project rather than replacing it, so you can keep both Project panels open side by side.

Did that work for having your music collection available in every project?
