Muted tracks turns on and off ??

I am putting in my music for a big project and I have that on A4 while my dialogue is in A1 and A3 (A2 simply doesn't work - but not important). I want to mute A1 entirely so I can match up the music my composer created with the video before adding in the dialogue, but everytime I mute A1 it only mutes for one clip. I tried to turn off any of the audio features just in case I was in write/read and I tried muting the entire track and then locking it. I am getting super frustrated because now I have random moments around the sequence where the audio in A1 mutes in and out. What should I do?
