Question

MXF files won't load

When loading certain MXF files I get the message "Unsupported format or damaged file". I know the file isn't damaged. So I assume this is a codec issue. I can forward the accompanying XML file for specific codecs. But more generally, are there codec packs or any other way to make all MXF formats readable?

    Hey Adam H,

Which camera was used to shoot with?

    Thanks,

It was archived from an EVS (a live TV editting machine).

OK, if it's not a camcorder's files you are dealing with, I suspect that these are files Premiere Pro cannot read.

Run them through the MediaInfo app and see if they have a constant or variable frame rate. Variable frame rates are simply not supported in Premiere Pro. You have to transcode them using other encoding schemes, like Handbrake. See if transcoding them might help. Report back with your findings.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
