my audio levels seem very hot hen importing clips into 2025
I have been using Premiere for the last 10 years.
I shoot and edit my video projects for non-profits. I have an issue with Premiere 2025. A few weeks ago I started a new project I noticed the audio levels when I placed them on a sequence were hot, I had to bring the audio level down to -10 or more. This was a live talk in a noisy public space so, I wasn't happy with the audio but it was acceptable and the clips seemed to be OK when levels set at -10 which I had never done before.
Today I started a new project for a client we work for every year. We filmed an interview with a better environment, I imported the interview footage into 2025 and again the audio levels were hot and I had to bring the interview down about -9.
I shoot with the Canon C300ll and have been using the same microphone combinations for years. I always watch my levels on the C300 and when I import the footage into Premiere, I usually have to bring them up to +3- +4 to get good levels. I have been using Premiere 2022 up until last year.
So I decided to open the client's project from last year in Premiere 2022 and imported todays clips and they were perfect, the same levels I had always gotten. This confirmed it wasn't my camera equipment or desktop mac. It must be Premiere 2025 since the same clips work fine in Premiere 2022.
My question could the software have gotten corrupted?
As anyone seen this audio issue with Premiere 2025?
At this point since I have a deadline I will continue this new project in Premiere 2022 since the interviews sound great, I can always update to a newer version if I can figure out what’s wrong with 2025.
Thanks for your help,
Jeff Cadge
