My clips are laggy after adjusting exposure? premiere pro cc

I'm a newbie to Premiere Pro and right now I'm trying to adjust the exposure and colours for each of my clips. However, every time I do that the clip suddenly becomes super laggy. Even when I undo the changes the clip remains laggy. Please say there is a way to solve this problem? I've checked to see if an update is needed but nothing so far.
