My Exporting Speed Problem from Adobe Premiere Pro Fixed
Hi Guys,
Just wanted to share a quick success story in case anyone else is running into what was recently MY export speed problem.
I was running V24 for a while. Export time for an hour of 4k was around 20 mins. Then (for reasons unrelated to PP) I wasn't using PP for a couple of weeks. Computer was off all that time. After the two-week break, and after start-up and PP launch, I updated PP to V25, didn't give the update another thought, created and worked on a project, selected some export settings then exported (again, one hour 4k vid) and suddenly, mysteriously, export was taking over an hour. Of course right away I was thinking it was the update. I was going crazy for about a week, looking at forums and trying to solve the problem. I kept testing exports, but no change.
Then by accident (running a quick export test for OTHER reasons) I altered what I was currently using (over the last week) as my export destination choice. I changed the destination to my desktop. Suddenly my problem was solved. Export speed was back to normal. That's when I realized my problem.
Before the two-week pause my routine was to always export to my desktop. I had simply forgotten that. Instead, when I came back to PP after the two-week break, without noticing it, I had selected my export destination to be where my raw footage sits... on some external hard drives, not even thinking about what I had changed. And (as many here surely already know) transfer speeds to external drives can be very different than exporting to the desktop.
So the whole thing was my fault, and now I'll never forget; for me, if I need the speedy export, it's gotta go to my desktop.
That's my story. Hope it helps someone else as well.
Best, Aaron
