my psd file is not importing into premiere pro

I made an design in illustrator and wanna add motion to it so I've saved this designe as a psd file to import it in premiere pro. I tried to import the file into premier pro but unfortunatelly premier is giving me this error. 

"The importer reported a generic error."

How can I solve this problem?

Open it in Photoshop and resave it.
