My Turbulent Displace Checkers Out

Hey guys, I've been working on a video & I'm using Turbulent Displace to create a heatwave effect for these scenes on the beach. I've done it throughout the video, and all was well, but now it's creating 'checkers' instead of creating distortion. I cleared the cache, restarted the program, deleted and then replaced the effect back in, and restarted the computer, I get the same thing every time now. How do I get Turbulent Displace to work again? You can see the example below of what the effect is now doing.
