Question

My Video keeps exporting overexposed but looks correct in preview

I am currently trying to export a video on my mac and every time I export the video is oveerexposed. Does anyone know what the issue could be? 

 

I have tried underexposing and boosting contrast before exporting (in hope of balancing out what happens in the export) - didn't help

I have tried multiple different exporing presets - YouTube 2160p 4K Ultra HD, H.264 Matched to Source, Uploading the video to Creative Could produced the same results. The video was shot on an iPhone 11 in 4k 60fps.

I have also tried Hardware and Softwear encoding during the export - didn't work

I origionally reendered to maximum quality before exporting the first time, turned this off and that had no effect either. 

I have changed the exposure on each clip indiividually and some of th eclips export correently but most are still extreemly overexposed. The video on the timeeline preview looks great as well as in the preview before exporting.

This is always due to a color management mismatch. Your video clips are probably HLG, an HDR color space. And your sequence and exports are SDR/Rec.709.

 

So ... select one or more clips in the Project panel ... right-click/Modify/Interpret Footage.

 

Set the Override-To option to Rec.709.

 

Now go back to the sequence, redo the corrections on the HLG clips, and use a standard SDR/Rec.709 export preset as before.

    Sorry for the issue. Could you let us know which version of Premiere Pro you're currently working on? Let us know what Picture Profile your source videos were shot in. Are you looking to export your video in HDR or Rec709 picture profile? Check out this FAQ for more information on this subject. Hope this helps.

    Hey Ishan,

     

    Thanks for replying! The photo attahced above has the output setting i have recently used for the export. I am using the latest version of Premier Pro 2023.

     

    I am new to editing on Premier Pro (I usually use Rush) - where do i find the picture profile? I shot everything on an iPhone 11. I am looking to export in the highest resolution that allows for the color to be correct.
