My videos and audios just randomly unlinked on my timeline

Hi,

Long time Premiere user (9+ years). My videos and audios just randomly unlinked on my timeline (Macbook Pro M1 mid 2020, Sequoia 15.7.7, Premiere 25.6.6 build 5, 20Mo project). All the footage is on an external drive.

This bug already occurred to me with different projects and footage as well though, last November for exemple when I was editing another tv series.

Quitting and relaunching Premiere did not solve the problem, I could go back and grab an autosave but this is too time consuming versus relinking every clip.

Wanna let you know that this bug is still out there.

Is it just multi-camera source sequences that become unlinked?

I recommend check that Linked Selection (the button under the timecode in the Timeline panel) is enabled.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your answer. Audio footage (like wild sounds) also becomes unlinked.

Most of the time I use option + click to click on my linked selection, so this button is usually disabled. I find it more convenient in my use of Premiere.

FYI: I linked everything back this morning, continued my work, closed the project, worked on it again this afternoon: everything is unlinked again. You can see in the picture below how the clips don’t have the [V] and [A] anymore.

Hi intelligent_navigator2532,

Welcome to the community, and sorry about the poor experience. Is this happening specifically with clips saved on an external drive, or also with clips saved internally? Also, for testing purposes, have you tried the latest version of Premiere to see if it’s working properly? Let us know, we’re here to help!

Hi Sumeet,

Thanks for you quick answer (unlike mine!).

All my project is on an external drive, so unfortunately I couldn’t know if it’d happen on clips saved internally.

I tried to open my project on the latest Premiere version, but the clips were still unlinked.
FYI, this only happened in one sequence I’m working on, not the entire project.
