NEED HELP WITH TIMELINE REVERTING TO OLD FOOTAGE AFTER SAVE

We need help with a bug we are experiencing in Premiere.  Unfortuanateley, this problem has caused a lot of lost time identifying what exactly was occurring over the last few weeks but I think today we are finally able to identify the problem.

The issue appears when taking AE renders and importing them into a project.  We have been using AE renders instead of Dynamic Linking as there are mltiple people working on this project.  The problem occurs when we import a new version of an AE render and then select that render in the bin and the old clip in the timeline.  We then select "Replace with Clip from bin" to put the new version on the timeline.  Now that the new version is there, we are saving, exporting and all seems fine most of the time.  Then later when we re-open the same project to make another change, we(and our clients) are noticeing that some of the earlier changes are missing and have reverted back to earlier versions.

We went to the clip in question on the timeline and clicked "Reveal in project" And it shows the newer version of the file in the bin.  However, when we then click reveal in Explorer, Explorer reveals the older version of the clip not the newer version that has been replaced.  For example.  The timeline shows the clip as "SEG1-SCN05_003.mov", when we reveal in project the bin shows the clip as "SEG1-SCN05_003.mov", but when we reveal in explorer the file that is revealed is "SEG1-SCN05_002.mov" not the latest version that showed up before the last save.

Here is a vimeo clip showing this:

We have tried multiple ways to fix this.  The latest thing we tried was upgrading to 2024 to see if that would fix it.  One file did seem to load correctly after the upgrade however, we have since found several other instances on the timeline of files that have reverted to their old version despite showing the new version on both the timeline and the project bin.

We tried clearing the cache which didn't help and now we just had a really weird one that might be related.  We removed from explorer all of the preview files for the current project and Now the timeline has reverted to the OLD NAME as well as the OLD FILES.  How can these be connected????

As you can imagine this is extremely frustrating, as causing a lot of problems in our workflow.  We need to find a fix for this ASAP.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just ran into this bug. It's nasty. I relinked to an AE render I exported over, and ever since then if I try to import that file, it reverts my timeline. This is such a massive and stupid bug. Not surprising because Adobe just cranks out spaghetti code so they can cram in all sorts of features no one asked for at the expense of usability and stability. Thanks, adobe.

We have also tried Replacing with Footage instead of bringing in both files into the project and are seeing the issue with that method as well.
