Yes, as you suspected, you're missing something.

It's the "Properties" panel now, taking over from Essential Graphics, and adding quick reference to other commonly used properties.

The changes to the Essential Graphics panel getting dumped, with the entire functionality of it getting ported to the newly revamped Properties panel, actually was something a lot of users wanted. Why? It's what happens in a lot of other CC apps, and those users wanted commonality.

Apparently, like me, you weren't one of those users. There are plenty of them, though. And even some other curmudgeons I know of at first wanted to blast the Properties panel ... and then found that it actually is faster for them.

But that is only after you learn how it works. It is totally "context aware" ... which means it shows the controls only for the specific item selected in the Program monitor, or whatever other panel has "focus", at this time. Which takes some getting used to for many of us.

And there are some odd things ... like ... to get the Roll credits option, you need to have the graphic selected but, in the Properties panel, click in the area of the layer box up top but below any actual item there. So you have the Properties panel layer box selected (though you can't see anything) ... but no text line or other asset selected ... and then the Roll credit option controls appear.

Which I did not find particularly ... intuitive.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...
