Question

Need help with .xmp on export, keep getting them, don't want them !

Hi All, help appreciated.
I have had no issues using PP for years, I fire out edits for local business, social media etc.

Since a recent update, all my exports happen with a sidecar .xmp file.  I don't want this file !  I have tried to change the option to embed but it is greyed out..  I have never had to do this before ??

I outout usually in H264 .mp4 format, and these have simply exported as the required file..  Why is PP now insisting on creating an .xmp ?  I have tried changing output to alternatives like Mpeg2 but issue persists.  I don't know why I suddenly have these file by default, but I don't want/need them and yet cant find a way to not have them !

If anyone can clarify, that would be a huge help, especially as I'm now sat waiting to do an export for social media, but if I upload the video without the .xmp am I right to think it wont have my edits like Lumacolour preserved?  Apologies, I'm really not familiar with this stuff, never needed it..

Thanks all

I tested H.264 export with various xmp sidecar settings. I cannot get an xmp to appear.

Pr Help -> About. What version are you on?

Screenshots might help: export window with the summary section showing.

Also the Metadata export window.

Firstly the XMP is only metadata so your exported video will contain what is in your sequence, effects and all.

Have you tried clicking the "Metadata" button on the bottom of the export dialogue and choosing "Off" from the dropdown?

Hi Mike, thanks for the reply..

I thought (perhaps wrongly) that the .xmp contained data relating to the video file, perhaps luma etc so the file would play back differently if it were deleted?

my real issue is that every option I choose produces an xmp, I'm not an old hand person dactyl, but I've been using PP for 6 years and it has never started putting out these xmp files before..  and yes I have opened the metadata option panel on export and selected off, the option to embed the data is always greyed out, I believe this was how it was set up before, but as the option is now greyed out it defaults to creating an xmp.  Bizarre.

You export a file from the Export dialog, and get an XMP file along with the video clip?
