Needing some technical advise for maximum performance

Needing some technical advise on Macs and Premier Pro. I have:
iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)
3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Macintosh HD (1 TB with 80 GB free)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB

Due to the amount of videos I am now starting to create I purchased a OWC external Thunderbolt HD Dock which allows me to use a 128GB SDD (128GB Free) and a 1TB SATA II drive (1TB Free).

What is the best way to configure Premier Pro and use the HD space I have. For example do I store my original footage on my Mac HD and use the SDD drive just for Scratch (not that I fully understand the Scratch settings but if it like the old days a Scratch disk was like for temporary files.) or do I use the SDD drive just for my current projects etc etc. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Tony

I have the exact same computer with the 3Tb fusion internal.

At the same time?

My two cents: If you can use both the rotational media and the SSD externals at the same time, I would put my source media files on the external hard disk (I use WD Black drives in a removable multibay enclosure for this, and get <> 100MB/sec throughput off these drives) and use the SSD for the scratch and cache flies.

I'd store my PPro project files on the Mac internal drive.

Others will I'm sure have different opinions.

Thanks. Yes, I can use the SDD and the SATA at the same time. The dock has 2 slots.

I have configured my new project as you have recommended.

Thanks
