New project does not automatically clear the workspaces of the previous project.

I am working with Adobe PP CC ver. 12.0.1.   When I am working with one project sometimes I want to open a new one. When I do that, I expect the workspaces to clear automatically. This does not happen. The workspaces stay with the stuff from the previous project (the project that I was working on when I decided to open a new project). If I close the Premiere Pro after I opened a new project and re-open it and open the newly created project, sure enough the workspaces are cleared up. Am I doing something wrong or missing something? I would like to have clear workspaces when I open a new project, without having to close and re-open Premiere Pro. Thank you in advance for any assistance.
