Which font is being used now? Same or different across macOS and Windows?

Adobe Clean. Same, Mac and Win.

It's a shame this wasn't considered before the change was made. I mean the whole benefit of panels is to provide a seamless integrated experience.

I'm pretty sure it was considered; just not by you and I.

While there are some panels that make an effort to look-and-feel like Adobe's own, panel UIs in PPro and AE vary wildly.

i am pretty sure that in ae 2017 the font doesnt look like this...
