no icons or labels in media browser window

I often go into a project file through the media browser to import a sequence into a new project. Since the CC 2017 update there are no asset type icons to sort by or even quickly scan with your eyes. It's just a grey and white text table with no visible difference between any of the various asset types. Folders, sequences, titles, and sometimes footage often end up with similar names and I can't tell one from the other without clicking on it if it doesn't have a file extension. Is this a bug? Can I fix it? I don't understand why this feature would be removed on purpose.

Thanks,

Chip Simons

This is an open issue on Windows (should be OK on Mac) and is being worked on.
