Question

No Mouse Clicks

What is going on with Adobe Premiere?

I run the most up to date version of Premiere on two different systems and have been experiencing the same problems on both.

One is an iMac with 32GB Memory intel

One is an M1 Mac Mini with 16GB unified

The exact same problem happening on both machines.

Different footage, different hard drives, same problem.

After ten minutes of editing I cannot click anything. Mouse has zero response to the program. Any keyboard shortcuts still work, the application is active, but it doesn't recognize a single mouse click for thirty seconds... then suddenly it's as if all the mouse clicks all caught up to themselves.

I ran all sorts of troubleshooting on my intel machine, but when I found this Mac Mini to have the same problem I gave up.

It's an adobe premiere issue.

What's going on and when will this be fixed?
Thank you!

I'm one of them. And I've swapped between 3 mice. No good. The mouse in the original post, and all of mine, work fine on all other programs. - Again... this is a Premiere problem.

I'm having the same issue on an older Mac Pro running Catalina and PP version 22.6.2. It is happening with two different projects that I'm working on. I've had it with Premiere and its constant bugs, I'm ready to switch to Resolve.

The website I mentioned for performing a 5-second click test is called ClickTester. You can use this website to check the accuracy and speed of your mouse clicks.

I had very similar issues, try closing the CC Libraries panel. No idea why but it worked for me!

Hi,

Sorry about this ongoing issue. I have heard from editors in Germany hitting this issue now. This issue also seems to affect After Effects users but in a slightly different way. Rameez sent me some workarounds from their community.

Thanks Kevin,

The problem is defineitly off and on so the workspace setting seems to be one of the things that could effect the behavior. I am constatnly resetting my workspace when the issue is bad. I will say they the issue is worse on a dual montior setup. My standalone MBP does not have the issue as often. I really hope there is a solution soon. This was not an issue in previous versions for me and definitely seems to have started with Monterey.

Hi everyone

I'm having the same problem with my M1 Mac Mini with Monterey, but in my case the problem goes away if I select in System Preferences for the Secondary clik the left side.  On the other hand the Track Pad works without the problem.  So it's  something to do with the left side clicking on mouse and Premiere (what I have noticed). I haven't paid atention whether that happens with other Adobe Programs.

I'm curious to see if you experience the same thing

I'm also having the same issues with Premiere. It gets worse when I have to also open up After Effects. My workaround right now is restarting my computer AFTER I unplug my ethernet cable. I have to load up all the apps I plan on using for my work day with my internet OFF. After all the apps are loaded, I can plug my ethernet cable back in. I've been doing this for 4 months now...

Updates: It seems, the longer I keep the program open, the slower it becomes. Perhaps this is an issue with memory somehow. Despite having the problem occur on two different systems and they both have their respective cache cleared.

I wonder if it has to do with my hard drive.

I'm working off of the Samsung T5 2TB drive.

I've been using these a long time. I wonder if they're slowing.

They are the only other common denominator I can think of besides Adobe Premiere itself.

Though I am also using a Seagate 4TB and having the same issues, so it's not technically a real common denominator.

Try editing from a local drive.

The problem persists even without the drive in use.

Not to mention the fact that I can handle large scale animations in After Effects with all the same hardware and not have any of the same issues with Mouse Clicks.

Sorry about that, Danny. I have been seeing weirdness with some systems on Monterey in my home office too, but nothing like this. I'll see if I can get a reproducible case here. My M1 is running Monterey.

Thanks,

Kevin

I'm having the exact same issue on my iMac. Every minute or so the mouse click do nothing for about 10 to 15 seconds, then they start working again. A minute later it does it again. I'm cutting a huge project under a deadline and this is driving me berserk!

Sorry about that, Nathan. When did this start happening?

Thanks,

It's been happening for about the last week.

Updates: I've read a lot of similar problems with other users and I've tried each solution these forums have offered.

The only thing that worked was updating my OS, but that solution quickly failed in a couple of hours.

This is a very frustrating way to work. I feel like I'm editing on Windows Movie Maker in 1997.

Might be the kind of footage you are editing, which is?

Same problem with different project files.

Right now experiencing it with MXF. Yesterday with MP4 and last week with MOV
