No playback at all.

1. Adobe Premiere Pro 25.0

2. Windows 11

3. Open Premiere, start a project, import a simple JPG file, create a new sequence, drop the JPG into the sequence.

4. Nothing shows up in the Program or Source windows.

I have tired everything.

Even after reinstalling Windows 11, Adobe CC, Adobe Pr, Nvidia drivers it still doesn't work.

I've tried changing the Renderer setting to "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only." as some forum discussions have suggested.

I've tried changing the Audio Harware default input to "No Input" as some forum discussions have suggested.

I've deleted the media cache too.

I'm going to lose my clients if this is not fixed, and frankly, I'm quite furious about this.

A few questions

The lines on your program monitor look like a driver issue - perhaps

Although you re-installed windows and Premiere there may be some corrupt display files lurking around on your hard disk

Have you tried a 'Clean installation' of the NVidia Driver downloaded from the NVidia Website.

You can select this during the install process.

What actual NVidia Card is in your PC?

Try a H264 Video Clip instead - does audio play even though Program monitor blank?

Has this problem just started happening?. HAve you upgraded from Win 11 23H2 to Win 11 24H2 recently?

I assume all your other graphics (Games?) work OK?

Just did a clean reinstall of the Nvidia graphics card.

WIndows 11 24H2 is the currently installed version.

I have the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, and the driver version 572.16 is up-to-date.

I installed the Beta of Premiere Pro and the problem persists.

Yes, the audio plays inside Premiere just fine - including H264 files.

All other graphics, VLC, games, etc., appear to work fine.

Sounds a weird one.

Have you checked the Program monitor Wrench tool - bottom right to make sure it is set on Composite Video?.

What resolution do you have playback set to? - Full /half ??

What happens if you double click one of your H264 test clips in the Project window?

The Source window should open and display it - does it?

Did you see the old post someone had similar problem to you - check Audio Hardware (don't ask me why) and check Device Setting (at top) is on MME NOT ASIO

Have you tried Reset Workspace as well ?.

Some of these things might sound crazy - but I have had strange problems over the years and non logical fixes solve it

Hopefully someone else might have some ideas as well

Thanks for the question. Welcome to the forum. These are user to user forums, as an FYI. The community can help you troubleshoot. I will also give it a try as the moderator around here. I'm Kevin and I work in Adobe Support.

My first step in troubleshooting is to test your file. Do other files behave the same way. How about a different .jpg? Same issue? If so, ensure it is in RGB format. How about a video clip? The next thing I would ask is if this file and workflow has worked before in previous versions? I would also ask you to install the Beta version and test there. I am sure we can figure this situation out with more information. I hope to help you.

Thank you for the reply and for your help. I used a JPG as an example, because of its universality. I have tried the most common video formats, MP4, MOV, AVI, MP5, etc. The same problem persists.

Yes, I didn't have these issues a few months ago.

How do I go about installing the Beta version? Through the Adobe CC service, yes? Can you point be more directly?
