No text crawl outside of Legacy Title Composer?

I can find a "roll" function in the Text palette, but not a "crawl" function outside the Legacy Title Composer -- which the software specifically advises you to not use because it will be voided in a few more versions. Am I going insane here, or has Adobe simply waved away a bit of functionality for some unknown reason?

I have a 35-minute video with a continuous crawl, so animating with keyframes simply isn't an option.

Currently, you add your crawl text to the EGP. Then go to where it needs to start, and move the beginning to just off-screen to the right, and click to set the animation controls to on.

Go to where it needs to end, move the text to the left side off-screen.

And that's it. Not a ton of messing, and really pretty quick to do.

But it would be ever so much nicer if we had a crawl tool with speed controls ... ah well.
