Question

No volume on my clip

I am editing clips into a sequence and yesterday there was no problem with any of the volume on any of my clips and today one of my clips has no volume for no reason. I have not touched any of the sound features. I am not really impressed. If your program is going to delete my audio of its own accord, then I cannot use it.

Glad you got it working.

After finally getting in touch with a person on Adobe's end, and after that tech tweeked some settings, we found that the file was not syncing right. After changing some settings that are not listed in the forums, it is now working. I also know what to do if it happens again. Apologies for my testy attitude. I will remember for future reference. My issue is resolved.

Oh, yeah... the 'Danger Stripes', as Rags mentioned. Those appear because the linked too clip does not have enough frames for what it thought it should have. So, you have some issue there.

Also, make sure your files are on a local folder away from OneDrive and Google Drive. I suppose it's possible to use files that are synced like that, but I wouldn't, just because weird errors can occur. Also, make sure any external drives boot with the same drive letter always.

The 'unimpress' part is mostly because, you're just communicating here with other users, so, it's not anything we can 'jump on' to get it sorted for you. But also " If your program is going to delete my audio of its own accord", ah.. yeah... we do that just to @17502962#% with your head..." I support a program I wrote and every once in awhile I get a call like that... yeah, it deleted all our files... Uh.. no, look somewhere else, as we don't have any features to delete all your files or not even an audio track... 🙂

OK, enough... Amid the things you said was this "does not work and only on that one clip." So, if that's the case, try converting that one clip to something like a ProRes LT file or even proxy.

Use Shutter Encoder to convert the files (before editing) to constant frame rate. Maybe try ProRes LT or even ProRes PROXY format within Shutter Encoder for easy to edit formats with 'better' files size.

With the changes in clip length I'm wondering if your clips are Variable Frame rate. If so, you might want to conform those to Constant frame rate as PP has never worked well with VFR files.

Hmm...your clip is displaying "danger stripes".

Have a look at this article.

To contact an Adobe support agent, go to this page, click on the chat icon (three dots in a speech bubble) on the bottom right of the page, and wade through the AI suggestions by responding that the suggestions didn't help, until you are offered a chat with an agent.

My apologies if you thought I was dumping on you. I research suggestions before posting anything. I was under the mistaken impression that Adobe actually participated in these forums. Nothing against you.

So first, I don't use public help forums because they have never helped me no matter how I word anything. If others find public forums helpful that's great. I don't. I stated my frustration at having to pay for a subscription that is showing the program is not worth it. I did not call anyone names or become vulgar. When there are technical issues with a program I am using, it is NOT helpful for me to use a public forum to report a bug since I check them first to try suggestions already listed. It seems to me that the developers of Adobe just don't want to deal with any of it so they leave it to public forums and nothing gets accomplished.

Second, to MyerPj, if Adobe wants anyone to pay for a subscription, then they SHOULD impress. Not just me, everyone. I use Adobe for business, that is why I have paid for a subscription, as many people do. I am really tired of snarky remarks like "We wouldn't want to do anything to 'unimpress' Suzzanna!". I am not impressed that I am paying for a subscription where I cannot get a TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT EXPERT on Adobe Premier Pro.

Third, I tried to start a new project, cleared the cache, and it STILL does not work and only on that one clip. The clip plays just fine in any other program but it is still reduced in Premier Pro. It shows a clip with 0:26 in the media browser, but the clip is actually 3 minutes long. Yesterday it played only 2 seconds on the source monitor, and today will not even appear on the source monitor and will not import. I have restarted my computer, restarted Premier Pro, tried new sequences, started a new project, cleared cache, and searched for answers, and no suggestion helps. That is why I need help from someone who has actually developed the program.

The files in my Google drive, OneDrive, and my local computer, are not corrupted. I had them scanned, re-downloaded them to these drives, and they still work. They even work with Microsoft ClipChamp. It is only in Adobe Premier Pro that I am having this issue. I have liked this program up until now. Nothing is working. So I need a Premier Pro Development Expert to assist me in figuring out what is going on.

As far as screen shots go, here:

We wouldn't want to do anything to 'unimpress' Suzzanna! 🙂

Try a new Project. Start PP holding down shift, Delete the cache from the dialog. Then start a new project, import that clip and let's see what happens.

Does this occur only on the time line, or also when you double-click to play the clip in the source monitor?

Can you re-import the clip?

Posting screen shots of your time line, track mixer and clip mixer, with the clip selected, may help.

BTW, these forums are frequented by users, not Adobe employees, so it's not my program 😉 Frustration is natural, but venting can discourage fellow users from helping you, for fear of being dumped on—think of someone on a street corner yelling at you while asking for directions.
