Not displaying multiple audio levels in timeline

Hi, I have a video shot with multiple input sources on channels 1 and 2 (sony fs7 XAVC-I).  In the playback window the multiple levels show up correctly (varying slightly).  But for some reason once I drop it in the timeline it appears to auto normalize the 2 channels?  Has anyone had this happen?  I don't want this as I would like to mix the audio levels to my liking.
