Question

Not seeing faster ProRes exports in Premiere Pro 24.5

Excuse me, @Kevin-Monahan, "Three times faster ProRes export speeds" -  is that 3 times faster backwards or is it on Mac only? Because on Windows 11 (14700K, 64 Gb Ram, RTX 4080), this is version 24.4.1 (2 takes for a clearer result):

And this is 24.5:

This is the footage I used: https://www.videezy.com/abstract/18651-drone-orbiting-an-old-castle-in-4k

The Export settings in version 24.4.1 were set the same way the 24.5 sets by default, export in mov, Apple Prores, 16 bit, rec709

Are you still having this issue in 24.6 or Beta, @AndrewTheGreat? Did you check out @R Neil Haugen's response? What do you think? Please let us know. I'll move your post to Discussion forum while we await your response.

Thanks,
Kevin

Yes, I am. But I can admit - I hadn't checked the CPU render alone. Looks like the prores CPU render is really faster that that with the iGPU or the GPU enabled which is strange. It only is faster with the prores files and only with the Mercury renderer. Big question here - who on earth would work without CUDA only to be able to speed up prores renders (excluding effects and everything GPU-accelerated). As for me, I don't see myself switching CUDA off in order to accelerate the prores renders only because I never render out prores alone.

Your case might be limited by how fast the system can process the clips. It looks like the original clip is UHD 60fps H.264 ... and the preparation of the image to transcode could be the hangup here.

As it both has to work with the sequence media, in this case, H.264, and the chosen export codec.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...

Hello @Андрей5E17,

Thanks for filing the bug report. Since I am not an engineer, I can't answer the question succinctly. I hope that the team can respond to you appropriately as soon as possible. Sorry for the delay.

Thanks,
Kevin
