Object Mask: Program monitor is black unless rendered or playing.

Sorry for the "double post", but I felt it necessary to change the Subject to include "Object Mask".

I can't find a way to edit my original post.

Just installed Premiere 2026. Tried Object Masking and have the following issue:

Once the mask is moved under Opacity in the Effects Panel, the Program Monitor in Premiere goes black.

The only way to see the video is to either play the sequence or render the clip. Once playback stops, the Program Monitor goes black again if not rendered.

This makes it difficult to adjust the mask.

I'm not at my computer but here is the basic config:

Windows 11 Pro

MSI Godlike Motherboard

NVIDIA RTX5000 GPU: Driver: 581.57 (previous NVIDIA driver installed)

128GB Ram

i9 processor (10900K 3.7GHz)

No notifications from the system test tool on launch of Premiere.

Thank you.

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Hi @KeulerB Thanks for reporting the issue. This is expected to work in ideal cases, can you share the source media with me to investigate further?
