I have some old material, grabbed from a Pal VHS tape as .mpg

Type: MPEG Movie

File Size: 2,77 GB

Image Size: 720 x 576 interlaced

Frame Rate: 25,00

Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo

Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo

Total Duration: 00:41:05:05

Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,0940

I made this in 1985 and that time it looked ok on tv but how to make it good looking on a computer? So progressive and not so blurry

I don't think you can.  This is the reason VHS was supplanted by DVD and then Blu-ray, because VHS really sucks.

usually I would say it was very possible until you said the magic word 'blurry'. you can try unsharp first masking out the blackest areas as a matte or try reelsmart motion blur which has a negative 2 slider to undo light blurriness. but beyond very light blurriness, there is too much missing information luma and chroma wise to recover anything, even with 32bpc effects.

But it looks so much better on an tv. It has something to do with interlacing I think.

hard to say without a screenshot.

Modify >Interpret Footage and change field to upper or off?. does it look better/worse? also, you will have to decide if you want to deinterlace, which often softens the image more as one field is thrown away as the web doesn't like interlacing very much.

also, ironically, if your footage was already deinterlaced and you try to deinterlace again, it will further degrade the image.
