Only audio is importing to timeline in Premiere Pro 2020, have tried everything!!

I have been using premier for over 6 months now and have had no issues whatsoever.

But now for no reason whatsoever, when I start a project and import all my clips they play fine in the preview section, and I am able to drag the first clip into the timeline with no issues. After the first clip is in, the subsequent clips will only go into the timeline with audio. I have tried starting new projects, changing file formats, uninstalling and reinstalling, filming new footage, downgrading to 2019, 2018 versions and nothing seems to be working.

And like I said earlier this has never been an issue before yesterday.

Help would be really appreciated, as I am working on an important project and I'm stressing😕😕

I solved it by simply right clicking on th V1 toggle button, then selecting 'Default Source Assignment'.

If the clip is loaded into the source monitor, you can click and drag from the button right under the picture

Hi Sophietermonen!

Thank you for reaching out. Source Patching in the timeline could be the reason for this issue.

  • What is the source of the footage?
  • What is the format and codec of the files?

You can try what @Ann Bens suggested. In addition to this take a look at this article and see if helps: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-why-does-audio-or-video-not-go-to-the-track-where-i-drop-it/td-p/3540610

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Kartika

Hi!

Thank you for your help!

What @Ann Bens suggested seemed to have solved the problem.

I'm still learning and I can't belive it was that small of an user issue!

Thank you again! 🙂

Most common user error is not source patching the track.
