Question

Opening a Project file Created in Premiere Pro 25 immediately crashes Premiere

I started a project 2 days ago in PR25.  Worked normally for 2 days, then all the sudden today I was moving in a new screen record into my project and the app crashed.  I tried to open the app by double clicking on the PR file and same thing, crash.

I checked updates across everything (NVIDIA, Maxeon, Windows 11, Adobe, drivers, BIOS, etc.)  I assumed updates wouldn't fix the because the crash happend while i was working on the project and I don't have auto update enabled on anything.  The updates did not fix the problem, the Project File always causes the app to crash.

I tried opening an earlier autosave of that project and it crashed PR immediately too.  The project was workign fine previously, why all the sudden would the app crash, then decide all auto saves are also bad/corrupt?  Doesn't make sense.  I copied the PR file, renamed it and moved it to a new folder.  Still the app crashes.

I tried to open other Projects and they opened fine.

After a few hours of troubleshooting I decided to install BETA PR.  It imported the file fine and I'm able to continue working on the Project.  Hopefully it was a bug that will get fixed on an update for PR 25?  Wanted to share here in case somoene else has the same issue.

If anyone has advice please share.  I have not deleted all render files, or previews...perhpaps I should try that?  I have a dmp file but it won't let me upload here.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear about this. I hope you were able to finish your project in the beta version of Premiere Pro. If you see the crash reporter box again, please click the "View Report" button and share the report with us here. I'll try to find out what's causing the issue.

Thanks,

Ishan
