P: Label colours appear to have inverted in Premiere Pro

I have opened Premiere Pro today to find all the label colours in my timeline appear to be inverted. The lighter colour is now the main body of the clip and the darker colour is now the waveform. I have tried to go through all the different label group styles. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application. Does anyone know how to get this back to the default colours.

I have attached an image of what it should look like and what it looks like now.

Yea, there's new color stuff available now. And it's puzzling at first.

Go to Preferences/Labels, choose the Classic option lower right.

You still may need to adjust the hue/sat/brightness to taste, just click the color box in that dialog and make changes in the color picker. You do now have a lot of ability to mod that to taste.

To get the green audio back, that's now on the 3-bar menu in the Timeline panel sequence tabs, separating audio and video track color.

There's a bug where audio on the timeline does not show audio name even when selected from the tool button in the timeline settings

I was confused because I have a named and saved preset for a custom set of labels / colors, and today all of a sudden they showed up super dark and different. I was able to fix it in the Labels > Preferences window by selecting my preset at the bottom and clicking "Revert label color preset", then it put the colors back to what they were.

Though they still show differently in the timeline which I guess I'll just have to get used to?

I also kindly ask for the option to revert back to old.

For me, it's about heirarchy of information. In an NLE video editor, waveforms are important, but secondary to clips and cuts. IMO, clips and cuts should have most the most contrast to surrounding elements, followed by waveforms.... not vice versa.

This is a dealdbreaker for me - please allow option to revert back, which was perfect.

Moreover, I feel like a lot of us who migrated from Avid to Final Cut to premiere did so because of the choices and customization Premiere offered.

Choice and customization are still some of the strengths of Premiere, even over Da Vinci, so it'd be great if you could preserve those with the colors.

I'm having the same issue,

I've contact Adobes support, I was advised it was an issue on my end, when in reality, this is doing it on multiple other devices I have. I haven't found a solution, I've attached screenshots of what my Timeline looks like when I've attempted to set them to "Classic" I've also set the labels on my own to hopefully fix it & make the timeline some-what usuable.

Have also added a screenshot of what premiere pro looks like when dragging a fresh file in.

If there is any solution, Ide appreciate it.

A classic Adobe Support response: blame it on the user. Shameful.

It's like they forget this form exists LOL

Hey!

i updated my Premier pro and found out, that the label color has switched. The text inside is noch white and not black and my label colors are completely different. It's okay, i opend an old version of my project and copy & pasted everything 1:1 like in the project before, but it still looks completely different. What can i do to get the same look back. I just want the old look. The given presets from Premier pro aren't the same as the old one.

The difference is in the audio tracks.

Colors are inverted.

And if you turn off AUdio Waveform Use lable color you get this weird (video) color in the audio.

Darker label color show as white (not ideal)

Hope the team comes up with a solution for this.

ye that swapped a bit the colors but not that much. I rly hope too, that the team fixes this, it's so annoying to edit like this. It looks like a early access color panel hahah

Since the last update (24.4.1) this is how my timeline looks now:

I have Intel GPU.

Tried reinstalling and installing a past version but now I'm stuck with it.

UPDATE (with Instructions) - for anyone who wants the old look:

On mac - click 'Premiere Pro' (top left next to apple logo) > 'Settings' > 'Labels' > Bottom right of the pop up box: 'Label Colour Presets': Change to CLASSIC

Upvote to help others see? (Does that push it to the top? I have no idea...)

Please try and test your tip before posting it here as a solution. This below as you suggest is not the old look.

The clip colors in Premiere Pro seem to be very wrong. Mango and many of the other colors appear as a dark red-brown, including yellow and others. I could deal with it if they were at least distinguishable from one another, but they're definitely not enough. I tried restarting and updating to no effect.

I saw another similar post that I'm unsure was the same issue, but Adobe employees in that thread seemed to be saying that was not a bug. I either cannot believe that's the case here, or I am sure this will be very quickly reversed.

I just figured out how to revert back to the standard palette. I would like to hear from whoever thought it was a good idea to reduce the contrast of the default palette to drastically--brown and yellow look almost identical, rose and magenta look almost the same, green, teal, cerulean, and caribbean look all very similar--how can you have put this out. Not to mention the lack of contrast against the default dark interface. I understand concerns about eye strain but that palette is unusable. And if you're going to make the colors that dull, at least change the names to reflect it so that users don't wonder if they suddenly are colorblind.

Updated today and very frustrated that the palette that I've used for literally almost 2 decades has changed. Can't see my audio waveforms, even with the classic update. Insane.
