Painful audio peaks while scrubbing and clicking through timeline

So I've encountered the problem numerous times now. When scrubbing through the timeline, sometimes there is a super loud static sound like a radio, which blasts through the headphones and is extremely painful for my ears.

I've checked the clips, and it doesn't show up in the audio track of the clips, once I stop the playback and continue it's gone. I know it's not the system, since my colleague had the same problem on a completely different system with a different project.
So, I would just appreciate any tips, if there are any, to avoid it. Since my ears a ringing for a couple of minutes afterward.

Hi @apc-marlo and @Highdeny,

I hope you are well. We requested more info for developers to reproduce the bug, but we didn't hear back. Are you still experiencing this issue? Let the developers know. I'll move your thread to the "Discussions" forum while we await a response. Sorry for the problem.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

thank you for your response and sorry for getting back to you just now. So, I've now realized that it's almost certainly due to my sound card, because I’ve occasionally experienced the noise while on YouTube as well, though it’s very rare, and much more frequent in Premiere. I believe I have a Realtek onboard sound card as well as an external sound card, but I don't use the external one for Premiere. I would need to look up the exact model.

In any case, I’m still having the issue; it doesn’t happen often, but it’s frequent. It mostly occurs when I restart the timeline, like when I press the spacebar or click Play with the mouse.

I’m not sure what else I can say about it at this point.

Thank you very much

Hello @Highdeny,

Can you provide the team with more information? See, How do I write a bug report? Once the team has your details, they can try to reproduce your problem. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin

I have the same problem. it comes out of nowhere after scrubbing and then press play (spacebar). When i wait for a second, the next time i press play, its gone. Super random problem, but super annoying for my ears. Maybe it has something to do with buffer size or something with the audio device (realtec in my case).
