Pancake workflow

After a lab session at Max, I attempted a multicam sequence. Rigth clicked and "Open sequence in Source monitor" which worked. We were taught to click wrench and click "Open sequnce in timeline" in order to get this red line through the multicam sequence and then pancake to Master Edit sequence. The "open sequence in timeline" option is greyed out! Please help

    Answer, you have to create a new sequence from the Multicam sequence and then open that sequence from the Project panel. This will enable the open sequence in timeline option. I think the muticam sequence is not a sequence but a nested icon and that's why it wasn't reading it as a sequence but still not sure about that terminology. At least it works now! 

     

    Hope this helps someone who might find themsleves wrestling with the same issue

    A couple of basic multicam tips for you. You may know them already but might help.

    1. When editing in a multicam sequence, control(PC) or command(Mac) clicking will open the base multicam base for you as a sequence rather than a source with your timeline indicator in the same position (usually - unsure why very occassionally this fails to matchframe).
    2. Also doing the same thing in the project window will also open it up as a sequence.
    3. Once you start editing your multicam sequence NEVER change the timing on your base or you'll upset your editing on the master sequence.
    4. Colour correcting your base can be much quicker as you can colour correct your source, rather than indivdual edits. You can use global FX mute button to stop it from slowing down the master edit.  Or you can leave it until the end.
    5. For most multicams where you have 4K H264 video on two or more tracks, it's easier and quicker to create proxies and use a proxy workflow. Even on reasonably powerful computers.
    6. When stopped clicking on the window for another camera will change the whole clip. To insert a cut to that camera use Control (PC) or Command(Mac) click.
    7. You can sync multicam clips based on audio tracks (or timecode or in points). Select all your sources, right click and choose Create Multicam Source Sequence.
