Question

Pausen [...] in automatisch generierten Transkripten / Unteriteln

Beste Grüße,

Fabi

Fabi,

I believe this is not possible currently. I assume you have an existing transcript. There are several discussion threads asking about using an existing transcript, but I cannot find a feature request for this.

When you copy text that includes the pause indicator and paste it to notepad, it has an extra space; so there is some kind of placeholder or symbol that we can't access. If you type/paste over the pause, it is no longer included. This is true whether we turn off the pauses showing or not.

In the public Beta version, we now have an option to "Import corrected transcript (txt)." This allows you to export a .txt version, edit it, and then import it back to PR. But the only way I could keep the pause was to replace (not add) characters that were not immediately next to the pause.

That extra space is gone in the Beta, but it does not appear to affect any options.

I did not know this for a while: when you hover over the pause indicator, it tells you how many seconds the pause is.

Hey @Stan Jones,

I appreciate your answer - thanks so much!

I can only find an option called "Statisches Skript importieren".

And could you please specify this part:

"But the only way I could keep the pause was to replace (not add) characters that were not immediately next to the pause. That extra space is gone in the Beta, but it does not appear to affect any options."

Thank you,
Fabi

For example, if my transcription is:

Welcome to our session today on a weather pattern. [...] Our first presenter will begin shortly.

If I add anything in the paragraph, the pause indicator disappears. If I replace "patterns" (7 characters) with "seasons," the pause disappears. If I replace "session" with "speechs," the pause indicator remains. (I mispelled speechs to keep it to 7 characters!)

I don't think that's very useful; just an observation.

Bottom line: I think the only useful method currently is to create captions externally and to import those.
