Pen tool in Premier Pro will not draw a line!!

Hello, If anyone can help me get my pen tool to draw a line that would be great.

First it makes a sort of square then two lines stretch out left and right as I draw (as if they are Bezier? points?) Then nothing I try makes an actual line.

Yes, I'm new to Premier Pro but I've used Illustrator for a while now.

Please offer ideas and suggestions - of course my project is late. Thanks in Advance

HEY there past ME, this is future ME, ok in the present here to help.

In Illustrator you click and drag to make a line. This is not how to draw in Premier Pro!! In PP click to start and then click to end the line. Simple - keep going!!

I am trying to make simple arrows. I click to make the 2nd arrow head and the line comes from the end of the first one, cutting through.

I just want to highlight certain things on videos!

Now I am drawing the arrow head first, then the line.

Maybe you'd be better off using the shape tool in the Essential Graphics Panel (EGP). You can set how many points to a shape there, grab and move points ... combine shapes.
