what gives??? ive experimented with every possible export setting, trying out new sequence settings, deleting render files, etc. ive seen this question floating around, unanswered. how to fix???? the transitions are on still images, should i reformat the still images somehow? first is how the image should look. second, is how it looks during the transitions. its subtle, but the jump back to the normal image is noticeable when the transition is complete.

    ive discovered something:

the stills come at the end of a bit of converted to VHS. my sequence is reading lower field first. when i export, it wants to export as lower field first. but then, the VHS is interlaced, but the images and transitions are smooth. if i changed the export setting to progressive, it deinterlaces the VHS, but then the images are wonky...

    YESSSS

    that did it!!!

my sequence settings were reading lower field first. so instead, i left the sequence as progressive and modified the VHS footage to read lower field first then put it into the sequence. exported as h264 and i had to change the export settings to read as square pixels. best of both worlds: deinterlaced VHS and crisp images!!! woot woot woot!!!!

Glad you got this working, and may be very useful information for others.
