Play back glitch on Premier v2025 skips, sped up,

Hi there, so I just updated my Premier version to the 2025 vers. but this was happening when I tried to work with it last night too, with 2024 vers.. So far in efforts to resolve the issue on my own I have
-restarted my computer
-restarted my program
-created a new file/project
-cleared media cache...twice
-disabled hardware accelerated decoding in settings, every time I open the program this setting has remained disabled.
The problem: Whenever I try to play anything back whether its in source or sequence track, the first two seconds play as if its being scrubbed, no matter the method I use to start it (shift-I, the button for "Go to In", nor just using a mouse click). It speeds through it, and the audio is all glitchy too so I literally can't edit when my style is based within these seconds. Please help, and I am sorry if I am asking a question thats already been answered but I am really sick right now and my head really hurts, if you send me that thread in the comments or a pm I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Some audio devices are known to cause problems. Without knowing what it was set to we can only guess but some examples of problematic devices are Bluetooth Devices (many computers don't have microphones so the only available input is any connected headphones) or virtual interfaces like VoiceMod. Theoretically an input device shouldn't cause problems with playback but audio devices on Windows easily cause problems with Premiere.

Hmm.. picking up on @Elijah31962510mxso 's comment, you can set the Default Input to No Input in the Audio Hardware tab of Prerences.

Somehow this solved it, if anyone wants to explain how/why I would really love to know so I can avoid this problem or help others in the future. Thanks so much Pj  🙂

What audio device are you using for playback? Audio devices not behaving correctly are the most common causes for issues relating to playback not starting correctly.

I'm wondering why: "-disabled hardware accelerated decoding in settings, every time I open the program this setting has remained disabled."

Why you would think this would help?

Maybe you can supply more info on your hardware, OS and media, and it would give us more of a clue. Screenshots of the whole interface are good also. Info Needed for Bug Report
