Question

Playback lag when playing timeline

Hello, I have performance issues with Premiere pro. Especially when I switch to other programs and then back to Premiere pro. In that case there are up to 10 seconds between pressing the spacebar and the timeline actually playing footage. This is right out of the box after a fresh install.
I have a i7-13700KF, 128GB memory and a GTX3060. The project just has 2 1080p clips and 2 audio clips. It occurs without any effects used. Premiere Pro has 104GB of 128GB memory available. The latest Adobe versions are installed, also the latest NVIDIA graphics driver (546.01). This system only has m2. ssd's. It definitely should run very smoothly. But it doesn't at all.

I tried several things:
lower playback resolution/ turn off quality playback
using proxy videos
render preview videos
closing lumetri scopes panel
turning on or off GPU acceleration
delete media files
disable Mercury Transmit
Reset app preferences
Clear media cache files
Reset plugin loading cache
Disable third-party plugins

Any idea what could be wrong?

Hi there!

We appreciate you trying the troubleshooting steps. Does it happen while working on a specific project? What type of footage are you editing(codec/ format, frame rate, frame size)? Are you working on a dual monitor? Could you switch the default input to no input? Edit > Preferences> Audio Hardware?

Let us know.

Thanks,

KR
