Playback of clips on HardDrive

I bought a brand new Macbook M1 Max a couple months ago for editing with. The first few weeks of editing work has been smooth, but recently it's all been slowing down again. Playback of clips from the harddrive are painfully laggy! I've no idea why this is happening as I've got plenty of space and RAM...

 

Any thoughts?

Hi @Robbie98A2,

Have you tried deleting media cache and resetting preferences? Press Shift at launch to get the Reset Options dialog box. Choose to delete media cache and reset preferences (note: you may lose some customization by doing this). See if that helps. Let us know if the issue is fixed or persists. Sorry for the frustration.
